À PROPOS&#38;nbsp;
Née en Nouvelle- Calédonie, Margaux Bigou s’inspire de ses origines insulaires pour créer ses illustrations. Elle va chercher ses créatures aux pieds des cocotiers, sous les coquillages et le sable chaud, dans les profondeurs abyssales. 
Ses monstres suintants et mélancoliques sont assaillis par la chaleur, ils prennent refuge dans des éditions expérimentales, mêlant sérigraphie, risographie et patience.


Etablie sur Tahiti et diplômée de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, elle voyage à travers le monde afin de partager ses derniers travaux.&#38;nbsp;
(Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair, TCAF, Melbourne Art Book Fair, San Francisco Art Book Fair…)


Elle fait aussi partie du collectif Riso-sur-Mer.


ABOUT&#38;nbsp;
Margaux Bigou was born in New Caledonia and draws on her island origins as she creates her illustrations. She seeks out her creatures hiding under shells, buried in warm sand, or lying in the depths of the sea. 
Her slippery and melancholic monsters can’t stand the heat and take refuge in experimental editions that blend screenprinting, riso printing, and patience.


She lives now in Tahiti, French Polynesia and graduated from ENSAD Paris. She travels around the world to show her last zines.&#38;nbsp;(Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair, TCAF, Melbourne Art Book Fair, San Francisco Art Book Fair…)


She is also part of the collective Riso-sur-Mer.

Les Motu est une série de trois fanzines initiée lors de la résidence Transat’ en 2022, imaginée à Punaauia en collaboration avec la Maison de Quartier de Taapuna et les Ateliers Médicis.Chaque édition explore une façon de raconter le fenua : à plusieurs voix, à travers les regards d’enfants, ou en jouant avec les formes imprimées.Imprimés en risographie, ces zines composent un archipel d’expériences, de récits et de gestes partagés.Motu is a series of three fanzines created during the 2022 Transat artist residency, imagined in Punaauia in collaboration with the Taapuna Community Center and Ateliers Médicis.Each edition offers a different way to tell stories of the fenua — through collective voices, children’s drawings, or playful experiments in print.Risograph-printed, these zines form an archipelago of shared gestures, narratives, and perspectives.

Un fanzine collectif qui explore les représentations du fenua au-delà des clichés touristiques. Illustrations, poèmes, photos et dessins digitaux forment rassemblent des points de vue intimes et sensibles. Imaginé dans le cadre de la résidence Transat’ en 2022, le zine réunit le travail de quatorze artistes invité·es :

"On this zine’s first page, a smiling man holds a long scroll: “Are you tired? Stressed? Very very tired? Without any hope? In the hole? Read me!” Towards the end, the same man, frowning now, has two heads, his body reflected over the x-axis. The scroll, upside down: “How the HELL am I supposed to read this sh*t?” Margaux Bigou’s zine looks, at moments, like a comic book, but there’s no legible narrative. Indeed, even Bigou’s words can become barely legible as she pushes her magnificently woozy lettering to its limits.

Bigou’s imagery in La Vie 100 Soucis continues her typically grotesque style, making use of body horror and twisted, masklike visages. When a semblance of a story, or a scene, at least, falls into place, it’s frequently hilarious, as when a group of dolphins discuss the coming revolution: “Capitalism and this STINKY society makes me wanna die, DUDE.” La Vie 100 Soucis might be too unsettling to turn to when one is “without any hope,” “in the hole,” but it provides its own comforts, its own distractions."︎

"Bonne Nuit Pauul is a short comic by illustrator Margaux Bigou. When Pauul gets dumped—via snail mail!—by his girlfriend Melaniaa, he leaves the house to get some fresh air. On his afternoon stroll, he passes by store windows hawking self-help books and caffeinated beverages to “warm your heart.” Instead, Pauul heeds mother nature’s call and ventures into the woods, which are getting weirder by the minute.

Bigou’s grotesque illustrations are printed in vivid, nearly lurid color. She captures Pauul’s emotional contortions, from “MIXED FEELINGS” to “I DON’T GIVE A FUCK - LOL -” to “I MISS HER SO BAAAD…”, with an eye for expression and movement. Through Bigou’s sharp detail, Bonne Nuit Pauul is a darkly funny examination of pain as mediated through consumer culture—from denial and irony to platitudes and easy comfort."︎
